 Knot on Sternum
Hey folks, just wanted a little bit of advice if anyone knows what this might be. Ive scanned the various message boards here and have seen some similar symptoms, but nothing seemed to be on point.
Im currently a 24 year old male. About 6 weeks ago, after getting sunburn, I noticed a knot on my sternum, at the very top near the clavicle. This is a hard slightly protruding knot which almost feels like a bone because of its hardness. It doesnt seem to be a protruding rib as it is right in the middle of my sternum and doesnt feel to be connected to a rib. Also, there is no pain associated with it.
Ive looked at a picture from about 3 years ago, and I think I could kind of see the lump, but I find it hard to believe that I havent noticed it until about 6 weeks ago.
I did recently get back into shape, losing 20 pounds and was just wondering if this might be something that has always been there?
I dont have any health insurance now, and probably wont for another 6 months and am assuming that the cost of an xray or even biopsy will be pretty costly. Any advice?
Being the hypochondriac I am, i've scowered the internet looking for a diagnosis...and have seen everything from a tumor, chondosarcoma, dislocated rib, and a "natural phenomenon that will slowly subside"...i really dont know what to think.
