| | Husband with Osteomyelitis of Foot, PICC Question
Hi, my hubby has cerebral palsy and had a bunionectomy that resulted in a sore that resulted in a Great toe OM. He is currently on IV Vanco via PICC twice a day.
Here is my question. Well one of them. He has very poor circulation to his footsies causing increased issue with the circulation and healing (he is wheelchair bound)
He has to have the plates removed in about 4 weeks, but until then he has this closed incision that is just not healing. We've talked w/MD about doing HBOT after his NEXT surgery, but can it be done now with a PICC line in??? I'm thinking some HBOT would GREATLY assist healing of wound and of the OM. But dunno if its save b/c of the PICC. He'll be on Vanco for the next 12 weeks. give or take. (They are thinking MRSA but b/c of predosing of oral and IV abx before culture taken, culture is negative and inaccurate, he also had been on it in the hospital with great improvement and once placed on rocephin only, wound worsened, improving slowly again with vanco)
