Knuckle bump w/clear fluid in it

I had a small bump on my left hand (middle finger) and went to the dermatologist. He popped it and a very thick clear fluid drained out (like Karo Syrup). He didn't seem to think much of it and said it was due to a trauma to the finger. Well, I could not even imagine what might have caused it. Now the bump has moved to the middle finger of my right hand. I popped it open with a needle and the same clear thick fluid came out.

What could this be and why do I have it on both middle fingers? Very curious...

Re: Knuckle bump w/clear fluid in it

I have a similar bump on my toe. It is sometimes sore but usually only when it has enlarged. Then I stick it with a needle and puch the thick clear fluid out and everthing is OK for a week or so. I had a doctor do a punch biopsy and sew it up but it return same as before. It was none cancerous.Sometimes the skin will dry up and come off but the blister always returns. I have had this for about 2 years. What is the answer? The fluid is thick and sticky

Re: Knuckle bump w/clear fluid in it

It sounds like you have Myxoid cysts. They are small and clear and are filled with a thick clear syrup-like puss. They are harmless but not exactly fun either. Often occur on fingers and toes, typically near the nail. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the helpful comment. I have the exact same problem described by rbjdfw same fingers but in the opposite order). As you pointed out, it is right near the nail.
