Broken Wrist-Cast Questions

My wrist is broken in two places. I have a cast. I have a few generic questions about a cast.

Does a cast's fit change through the day due to variations of swelling?

Is a cast strong enough to keep the bones in alignment if the cast is bumped or jolted? Or, if a person falls?

How would a person know if the wrist bones moved out of alignment inside the cast? (other than x-ray)

Thank you.
