Unhappy Adams apple

About 6-7 months ago I was bored and decided to press on my Adams apple. It made a popping noise and hurt really bad. I haven't done anything about it cause I thought it would go away. But that's the things it hasn't. It feels dislocated is that possible. It feels shifted to my right side and a very odd feeling when I sallow it's very irrating I'm a 17 year old type 1 diabetic please if anyone can tell me what to do I would be very thankful please someone help me. I'm scared because I smoke. So please don't lecture me about smoking I just want to know if there's a doctor I can go to to pop it back in place. Also my right neck muscle is always swollen so someone please help me thank you.

Re: Adams apple

DerrickG, It may be that you moved the hyoid bone out of place a bit. It is a bone which does not attach to any other bone. If it is damaged it will make swallowing difficult somewhat as the muscles which enable you to swallow are attached to it. I don't know about treatment, see your doc or perhaps a physio who does TMJ work as it is in the neck area. I will not mention the dangers of smoking especially in diabetics.

Re: Adams apple

Thanks James but yesterday I did almost the same exact thing because it was irritating me so bad. Good to say it helped a lot. I felt the same sort of pop as I did when I first pushed it. Now I can sallow easier just still barely noticeable. I asked my diabetic doctor today he said everything felt in normal place and it was just in my head. Well I feel a little better thank you for replying.
