Smile protruding sternum

:My son just turned 12 years old and for a few months now I've noticed the very bottom of his sternum is protruding outward. He had a huge growth spurt this past 15 months growing 6.5". He does not complain of any back of chest pain, although his chest protruding is noticeable in clothing and it seems that the bottom left rib is sticking out farther than the right as well. I took him to the doctor and they took x-rays and said it was fine. Should I worry and get a second opinion??
Thank you

Hi Momylove!
My son sounds exactly like yours - and we asked the pediatrician who sent us to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Thoaracic Surgeons. We went and saw one of them 2 days ago. I am reaaly happy with the appointment. He does have pectus carinatum and she said they have excellent results using the brace for like a year to a year and a half or so. I researched it ahead of time as well. I read a lot about surgery, so I am thrilled about the luck that they have with the brace.

Did you get another opinion? We could stay in contact if you like. Reply back here if interested - if you still check this site - I noticed you posted in JAnuary.
