can I take citrucel on empty stomach?

Can I take citrucel on empty stomach or when hungry? Or is it advisable to take it with food? Thanks.

borak,
I find that water soluble fiber just works best with food.

Re: can I take citrucel on empty stomach?

Thanks for info. When I take full dose of citrucel, I am getting stomach pain, so I am taking 1/2 dose 4 times a day instead of 1 full dose twice a day. Does it really matter? Though my stool is soft, I am not having that urge to go even after taking citrucel. Even though I don't have that urge, when I go and sit there, I will have bowel movement but incomplete, what can I do to have the urge? thanks once again.

in my case i had to use the sugar free type that seamed to help. as far as taking small doses i dont think it matters much. in my case i needed a stool softener and a intestinal lubricant and it works well for me. as far as the frequency of bm it took 2-3 days to have a good bm. citrucell is more a softener than a laxitive. i found the sugar type gave me gas which i really didnt need as i have plenty as it is. if you dont ever get the urge to have a bm you may need to see an gastrointeroligest. the fact that your stool is soft tells me the citrucell is working. do not force a bm that will only cause worse problems. in my case i wait eventially it will come naturally.
