Re: Magnesium
The last Magnesium Citrate supplement I bought was from the Vitamin Shoppe--- their brand.
I read that taking it once daily -- you only absorb 14% of what dose you take. If you take it in diveded doses 3 times daily you absorb 36 to 40%.
I now use the High Absorption magnesium put out by Doctors Best. It is a chelated mineral that is bonded to an amino acid for better absorptin --- called glycinate & lycinate.
The process was deveopled and patented by Albion Labs in Canada and sold there ---- by a Trophic label. Kal, Solgar and Carlson also market the process because I bought some but have not used any yet--- I only use one manufacture at a time!!!
Citrate of Magneia is sold in drug stores as a laxative in a green bottle as Gemi said and is an Osmotic type of laxative like Epson salt and Milk of Magnesia. Certainly not mineral supplements for daily use but I think you can use all in very very small doses as supplements. They are all inorganic type and do not absorb as well as the organic types. There are many organic forms on the market-- gluconate, apartate, orotate---are some examples and are all good.
