Diarreha immediately after eating????

I have had this problem ever since I can remember. When I eat, it normally takes about an hour or so and I always have bad cramps accompanied by diarreha. It never fails and it really makes it bad when my wife and I want to go out to eat or something because I always end up having to go home. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone know what this is and what I can do about it? Thank you in advance.

Re: Diarreha immediately after eating????

This, actually, is something that is worth checking out with the doctor. I don't know how old you are, but judging from the fact that you're married, I would say that you're at least over 25...am I right? (I know, I know, there are lots of people under 25 married, I'm just talking about what's likely! ) Anyway, have you ever had blood in your stool? The fact that this has been going on for a long time shows that it's most likely nothing serious...though, it could be a malabsorption syndrome like celiac...many people don't find out for years that they have celiac until they finally complain to their doctor and they do a few tests. You should also be investigated for inflammatory bowel disease as it can present like this too (but usually more acutely).

Re: Diarreha immediately after eating????

I am 27 and to be honest, I have only really noticed the problem within the last 3 years or so. I do notice it getting progressively worse. It seems sometimes it is worse than others. There are times I can eat and be fine, there are others I have less than an hour brfore I start cramping up and have to rush to have a BM. I do, however, feel much better afterwards. Sometimes the cramps linger a bit but for the most part they subside.
Thank you for you taking your time to respond to this. I have been wondering what is going on and at times I get a little worried. It is more of a nuisence and an embarassment than anything else though. Thanks again.

Re: Diarreha immediately after eating????

No problem..yeah, obviously this can be a nuisance, but the thing is, it's important to rule serious things out. Have you had any weight loss or anything like that? Though this may seem weird to ask, have you had any joint, skin or eye problems at all?

The fact that the cramping goes away when you defecate is a good thing. Though it's probably a good idea to make sure there aren't microscopic quanities of blood in your stool.

Does the pain and cramping get worse after a certain type of food?

Re: Diarreha immediately after eating????

I have problems with my knees but thats about it. I cannot blame this on anything since I run 3 or more times a week. I am sure the cramps are probably worse after ceritan foods but I have not looked that closely at it. I will keep an eye out and observe which foods are worse. I thought maybe lactose intolorance but I have tested this theory and dairy does not bother me like it would if I were. I have not noticed any weight loss though so I guess that would be a good thing. I do notice that I bloat up alot with these cramps. Don't know if that is common or not.
Again, thanks for your help.
