any good tips for getting off prevacid - Bowel Disorders Message Board

i had h plyori about six weeks ago ,went threw the 14 day treament,

its since been a month to date been taking two prevacid a day 30mg.

its been hell due to have a high fever during this as well and effects

from these drugs. i have lost about 25 pounds since i started this

six week trip. bland diet and the stict regium to stop reflux has curtailed

me to foods that very heathly but not wieght gainners. any advise on

taking this prevacid , i have gone down to one but have a mild reflux

coming out during the day but since i stop eatting after 6pm i have

no problem at night. i was wondering if i should try nexium due to

some effect of prevacid ,i am worried if a stop i will damage my

escophgaus. any tips i would apprecite . thanks

just stop taking it. if u still need something for reflux try something else. u don't have to be weaned from prevacid

I really think alot of refux as well as throat problems are caused by lack of Calcium and Magnesium in our diets.
My wife took Prevacid and it caused nausea-- switched to Prilosec for 6 years and started getting nauseated --- now she takes a calcium/ magnesium supplement and it solved her problem.

She takes it 3X daily to increase the aborption.
