I'm SO upset about this.... - Bowel Disorders Message Board

I didn't know where to post this...I don't even know how to explain it. I am a 51 year old female and I have noticed for a couple of weeks now that after I have a bowel movement, I will have some spots of urine on my underware afterwards, like I'm leaking a little. It's not alot, maybe about the size of a nickle or smaller, and it's pretty much the only time I see it, but I'm very upset about it. I don't actually feel it coming out so I'm not aware of it, it's just there immediately afterwards. Why on earth would I have this only after a bowel movement and not at any other time?? I mean, I don't walk around all day leaking urine, and if I happen to not have a BM one day, I'm perfectly fine that day with no problems at all. Does anyone else experience this or at least have an explanation for me?? I'm sooooo upset and have no idea why or what to do to stop it. I don't even know why it started or what may have caused it. I mean, is there something about the way our anatomy works that I don't know about? Can someone please offer me an answer or an explanation? Thanks so much for any help from anyone.

have you had children?Women who have had children have a higher incidence of having this than others.
seems to me that you have the start of
SUI= stress urinary incontinence which is not all that uncommon with a woman of your age i also have some of that too. you can have it checked out by a urologist or even a gynecologist there is a surgery that can be done for that if it is sever there are also the keough pelvic exercises that may possible help with the sui good luck.

I agree with deriae --It is not that uncommon for women as they age to develop incontenance. It usually can be corrected with surgery and I have 3 sister that have had the surgery--- 2 have had it done several times. The problem is sometimes it works and it may not.

There are exercises to strengthen your muscles in that area. My wife tells me all this stuff. Ask your Doctor about this if you are really concerned!!

I have found all sorts of things happens as we get older???
