Re: cramps and pressure

I am no expert but for cramps and spasms of all muscles including the colon -- a person usually needs calcium and magnesium in their diet. I have found taking a Cal/mag supplement 3 to 4 times daily helps absorption from 14% to 45%.

Another thing that was mentioned by plymouth was the use of "worm therapy" is being studied at several places for IBD --University of Iowa is one. I have not reseached it but have done a little reading. I think it is worth investigating. Go to Google and type in :--- What is worm therapy? I am very serious!! Don't use quotes.

Re: cramps and pressure

Harry, could you tell me the mg amount of calcium/magnesium that you take per day, or break it down into the 3/4 ingestions? I do take 1,000 mg. of calcium and 133mg. of magnesium with chelated zinc in the morning, but that's all. Would it be better to break it down into several times per day for digestive purposes? Thanks! Mary

Re: cramps and pressure

Mary,

Yes it would be best to take it in divided doses.
I take 200mg of magnesium 2 or 3 times daily and Calcium only twice daily about 600mg but I eat yogurt 3 or 4 times daily so I am not as concerned with the calcium as I am with Magnesium.

People in the the USA get more calcium in their diets than people in other countries yet we have more conditions that lack calium because you need magnesium to absorb calcium and we are not getting it in our food!! I read an article that said 70% of people lack magnesium. And every cell in your body has some or is suppose to have it.

The Recommened daily dose for calcium is 1000mg and Magnesium is 400mg --- you should also take vitamin D -- 400 IU daily for calcium absorption.

Your body only functions with the building blocks you give it to work properly. I really believe with the processed food that we eat today -- we are becoming lacking in many vital as well as necessary nutrients.

God Bless---Harry
