| Re: Chromes disease?
Hi,
Present your question on the bowel disorders board on this site with more details so that your queries can be answered in a way that will be helpful to you.
It's called Crohn's Disease...an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that is also autoimmune related. It's caused by a variety of triggers, many not fully understood and disputed. There are many schools of thought on it's causes and treatments.
It can affect the patient anywhere in the digestive tract from the mouth to the anus. It affects the whole wall thickness of the digestive tract and can affect different areas at the same time.....(skip areas) with undiseased tract between.
Accompanying it there are other physical manifestations such arthritis, liver/kidney disease, eye disorders, skin disorders...but not everyone suffers from these.
Surgery to remove the diseased tract do not stop Crohn's from appearing in other areas.
There are many medications that are used in treatment...5ASA (oral/rectal), steroid (systemic/topical), immunosuppressants, immunomodulators...
some basic info.
Hope this helps,
quincy
