Ok,I am at my wits end! Nearly 4 months ago, I had several internal and external hems removed,along with a chronic fissure and an LIS (muscle cut to prevent future fissures).I am still having small amount of bright red blood with bm,each and everyday.It is alarming to me. When I had my surgery,I told the dr. I was very worried I had rectal cancer (don't laugh at me-I always think the worse about everything).He said he did not think so,but would take a "good look" while he had me sedated for surgery.He did an anascope,proctoscope and sigmoidoscopy.He also sent tissue to pathology,it came back ok. When I saw him a few weeks ago for my last apt.,I told him I was still bleeding-he said you shouldn't be.So he looked around with the light and said he didn't see any reason and told me to more or less have a good life-no more apts needed.I try to drink lots of water,eat fiber-one cereal and exercise daily.So,why in the world am I still not completely better.He was probably the third surgeon I saw in a year and the only one who thought I should have surgery.If it were cancer,shouldn't they have seen it? I can't quit worrying about it.

I think you should cut down on the fiber one, maybe that is too harsh for you body and is breaking open a wound that is trying to heal..
Also, if you had cancer wouldn't you have more symptoms by now than just some bright red blood. ? I don't know the symptons of colon cancer, but my girlfriends Mom has it and she is real sick.

your diet is the answer.

follow these rules

stop all bran it too harsh

take docsule sodium 150mg . all it does is puts water in your bowels to

keep them soft if you need too take two a day fine, it safe and is not a

latative.

no straining period

eat oatmeal. spinach,soft foods banana, any steamed veg. for a while
untill you stop bleeding , your stools must be soft and no straining
and you will not bleed, use a preparation h sup before you go and after
for a week too keep it wet, use it for a month if you have to.

five small meals a day and make sure you eat the fiber so your are
regular and have soft stools and last thing is water drink 10 cups a day

it wiil take time but you will get better

Southern Diva, I had surgery 4 weeks ago. I too was eating fiber one and was still having a lot of pain. I stopped the fiber one and started eating things like steamed carrots and broccolli. Plus lots of water. The pain decreased 90% as soon as I stopped the fiber one. I think you should stop and see what happens.
