Going in for hemroid surgery--need support! - Bowel Disorders Message Board

Ok, I have an appt on Monday to get a small external hemroid removed. The doctor found that I have internal ones but said they weren't that bad and gave me rectal suppositories. If they don't get better, he mentioned he would check them on my surgery visit,and I'm assuming possibly remove them. I am really nervous. He said they inject the area locally to prevent pain but I'm more concerned with the healing aspect. How long does it take to heal (he is just cutting it off...ouch!). And here I go again, but what about sexual stimulation in that area manually? Should it be completely avoided? Oh, and by the way Avatrol sucks...at least for me. The pills did nothing so I am calling for a refund today. Let me know if they've worked for any of you.

I don't understand your question about sexual stimulation in that area.
If you have a hemmroidectomy, believe me sex will be the last thing on your mind..
At least for a few weeks.
That is if it is anything like my surgery. I had external H, tomorrow will be 6 weeks and it still hurts a little and today had some blood.

Are you kidding me? Now, I am worried and just left a msg for my doc to call me back. I thought removing one small external hemroid wouldn't be a big deal. 6 weeks of healing? Were your externals big and were there alot of them? I'm really freaking out now. Not to mention I am dating someone and a few weeks without sex won't work!

Did you go for the surgery? Your problem may not be as bad as mine. The first 3 weeks after my surgery were pure hell when going to the bathroom. ' It has now been over 6 weeks. I am so much better now. Still a little pain, but not too bad.

I wish you luck, let us know how you are doing?

Thanks--actually just got back from the surgery and there is very little pain. I haven't experienced a BM yet but the surgery took minutes and was relatively painless. I'll keep you posted.
