Had Diverticulitis in October (Just wasn't my month) Anyone else ever have it and has any reaccurances ? I don't want another , I try to eat as much fiber as I can without overdoing it.

The best thing you can do for diverticula problems is take psyllium twice daily. It is not only a stool bulking agent it also cleans and sorta lubricates your colon--- it's also safe to take daily.

Personally, I do best getting my fiber from veggies, fruits, legumes and oatmeal. Yogurt regularly (a cup at least five times a week); plenty of water.

I had a bowel resection after my attack, so I'm starting with a clean slate (and it has not recurred so far). But I know people who didn't have surgery and have had no recurrence. They say fiber is the key - changing the way you eat - cutting the refined carbohydrates.

I'm 37 and was diagnosed last June with Diverticulitis.

So now no corn, nuts or seeds of any kind. I am wondering if soluable fiber is best or if taking the fiber pills is just as good. No surgery , yet and hopefully with higher fiber and less processed foods I can stave off the surgery for several years -- any tips that have helped keep you feeling good ?
