Post nausea and vomiting

For probobly about three months now my girlfriend has been having similar symptoms, including nausea and vomiting. She is 18 years old, dosent smoke, dosent drink, and overall eats very healthy foods. The nausea and vomiting was very sporadic at first, then for the past 2 weeks or so the vomiting has occured every day. Last week my father(an oncologist) got her an appt. with a GI doctor. They ran some bloodtests, as well as an ultrasound, and uppergi series. All came back with normal results. They then did a HIDA scan with cck which also came back normal. The doctor put her on a liquid diet for several days. For the first day she was vomiting most of the liquid up...then as she began to drink less frequently and more slowly she started to keep it down. After a few days she returned to the doctor who more or less said for her to go on a babyfood diet for a month until we get home from school for summer break, and then more tests would be done. She wanted to test for IBS,migraines(she got headaches many of the times she vomited),GERD and gastroparesis. However she is already on nexium, because her upper GI showed acid reflux. Her symptoms are concurrent for the most part with gastroparesis. For the past 2 days she has been eating very sporadically, and she is able to keep down everything more or less. Shes been eating slimfast, and bananas, and yogurt for the most part. She still gets nauseous, and has some stomach pain. She has not really lost any weight, and when she is not eating, she is typically fine. Back at school,we brought her into the ER, where the doctor believed the illness to be gastroenteritis, because that had been going around our campus according to him. According to many medical journals and my father, gastroparesis can be brought on after an episode of gastroenteritis. Have any of you guys had similar symptoms as her? What was the cause of your symptoms? Anyone with gastroparesis? What were your symptoms? She really seems to be getting a bit better actually, so i am hoping it is just self resolving viral gastroparesis, and that she wont have to go through the next battery of tests! I am very medically informed due to the fact that my father is a doctor, and i have access to all of his medical books, and knowledge and have been studying up...but I am stumped on this one, and it seems as if the gastroenterologist is as well.

You know I gave someone some advice about what the symptoms indicate several months ago---- gastritis. I told her what I would do for gastritis---- And, it turned out she was pregnant!!!

The best remedy that I have found for these symptoms is a homeopathic remedy -- Ipecacuanha that you can buy at most health food stores. It works in the low 6 to 30X potenties.

God Bless---Harry

OK-- I guess you are both ok with that???

I sure didn't like congradulating the person that I told her it sounds like gastritis only 2 day earlier.

I have used alot of medicines for these symptoms over the years. One of the better OTC remedies I have used is Mastica. It's a resin gum that has been used for hundreds of years by the Greeks for stomach problems.

More recent tests show it is effective for H.pylori bacteria that causes peptic ulcers. I did not have that bacteria as tested results --blood and breath tests-- both were negative.

Two week taking Mastica and a probiotic supplement cured my inflammed stomach. Prilosec for 3 months didn't help. So, Mastica must do something other than kill H.pylori bacteria.

The Mastica was given to me by a Doctor(MD) that uses alternative medicine in his practice.

I wish your gf well---Harry

Arsenicum would be my first thought as a remedy for gastritis, as you have the burning pain with acid reflux. Either that or Lycopodium, which is another good GI remedy.

Ipecac is more a remedy for what is termed deathly nausea, but when it is not related to the GI system. You would also have a clean tongue with Ipecac too.
