Hey, Jimmy....welcome to the boards
I am guessing here...having had a bowel resection the ureters are in fairly close proximity to the colon and there is a high risk of them being nicked accidentally during the procedure particularly if done laproscopically. Perhaps your surgeon does this as a precautionary measure. Stents are usually put in when there is a kidney stone or occlusion to the bladder...do you have a problem that would warrant this being done???
Also....if you would like information on what to expect having a colon resection for diverticulitis...the thread I started has a ton of info that I feel would really answer any questions you may have as to what to expect before, during and after surgery. Hope I helped out....Goody
