I was wondering what is the average number of bowel movements a person should have daily.

Also it seems like whenever i wipe after a bowel movement it seems like i can never get the area totally clean

sometimes during the day i have gas, it doesnt smell or anything its just like small farts, for lack of a better word, throughout the day...is it just gas buildup or something else?

It is not necessary to have a BM daily so there is not normal amount for daily BM's. Some people only have a BM every 2-3 days and so long as it is not hard and dry this is fine. As for not being able to get clean after a BM this indicates that your stools are nice and soft. Consider buy some of those flushable wipes to use in the bathroom or buy baby wipes or make your own.
The gas might be your digestive flora out of whack so try adding yogurt to your daily routine or take acidophillis capsules routinely to see if this helps.
