Hey fobt,
The quick version of a fecal occult blood test is where the dr. will insert a gloved finger into your rectum, obtaining a very very small amount of fecal matter (poop). Then smearing that on a special match book sized blotter and squirting some type of chemical solution onto it. If there is blood present in the sample, they will usaully have you take a more comprehensive test that you do at home. All of these test ared used as screening for various bowel disorders from hemrroids to colon cancer. Usually nothing to worry about. If you have to do the at home one, I hope you are not squimish!
