Re: Clear slime

Hi,

I have that on occasion (I have ulcerative colitis as well as IBS). It's probably mucous.....and you described it well!!

Are you having other problems with your bowels? Have you been sick lately? Taking any antibiotics? Are you under a lot of stress? Are you eating a well balanced diet? How about sugar substitute?

You might consider adding a probiotic (acidophilus, bifidus..etc) to your diet. As well, increase fibre to get the bowel working properly.

If it continues in a way that your bms are affected....diarrhea, severe constipation, cramping, worse mucous, severe change in bm odour...then it would be best to seek medical investigation.

I hope it's only fleeting.

Re: Clear slime

Are you female? If so, I have an answer, if not I don't!

Hi,
Mucous in the stool is not uncommon if you have allergies... And just slime at times...
I would suggest that you keep an eye on it and if you notice it more often that you look at what you are eating to see what you may be reacting to..

Seem that food allergy or intolerance may cause the GI tract to produce mucous as a way to protect itself.

Re: Clear slime

I went to a general DOC today. He geve me a rectum exam! Yuke. He was not sure what I have. I have some anal mucus leakage and my sides are now soar. He is sending me to a specialest. He thinks it could be some ulcer thing in my colon or maybe even some paracites. Does any body have any info for me? Thanks

Re: Clear slime

Hi....it's good you'll be seeing a specialist. When's your appointment. Hopefully it won't be too long a wait.

Are you consuming products with artificial sweeteners in them? They're severe gut irritants...

Re: Clear slime

They are supposed to call me with a time to come in. I do drink two or three twenty ounce Diet Pepsis a day. Would that do it? I have always drunk a lot of Pepsi or coke though. I have been eating a lot of Chicken Fajita Lean pockets lately! Could that be it? LOL

Re: Clear slime

CUT OUT the aspartame for sure.....!!!!

Cut back on the pepsi or coke.

If the lean pockets have a lot of fat..that could be adding to it, but maybe it's the combo of you having an unbalanced food intake.

What do you eat for breakfast/lunch/supper/snacks? Maybe we can help you with a diet adjustment/change and encourage you to add fibre which helps keep the gut clean and exercised.

Something to consider. Eating well goes a long way...and since you're already having problems, it would be a positive change. Your gut is telling you that something's not right. You should heed the warning.

Sunlover, I'm female and I also sometimes have this problem. What do you think it is?

If female, I'd say it's not coming from the anus, that it's coming from the vagina (well, not if you already went through menopause), but especially at mid cycle. If there's a lot of it it could go back into the anus area, it could come up front - depending if you were sitting, if you were laying, your position, etc.
