| Re: I've had C-Dif for three months.
Hi Babesbarn,
I too have C-diff (Clostridium difficile) and have completed four regimes of Vancocin, 250 mg QID for 14 days, without getting rid of this problem. I wouldn't mess around with any dietary supplements, but I would reccomend you get yourself a good Gastro doc to treat you.
We are currently waiting for test results to come back on my wife to make sure she doesn't have any infections and assuming she doesn't, she will be the donor for me in a proceedure which uses donated stool. You go in for a colonoscopy and then the doctor does a complete bowel flush. After completing this he injects the donated stool uniformily every 10 cm throughout the colon. The idea behind this proceedure is the donated good bacteria will take over and the bad bacteria which is causing the C-diff will be gone and the patient will not have any more of the symptoms. This proceedure is common in Europe and Canada, but fairly new to the United States.
This is the last thing to try for me. I have been bothered with this for at least two years and it went undiagnoised for all that time until just recently. Hopefully this will work and rid me of the problem. I also have IBS, but that is nothing compared to C-diff. I hope you will check with and go see a good Gastrointrologist who is up on this proceedure. It could make all the difference in your life.
