Miralax - Bowel Disorders Message Board

Two days ago I was put on Miralax for my IBS-C with chronic constipation and colon pain. I was skeptical about it helping the pain, but as of right now at least, under my right rib cage (where I had persistent pain) I feel better. My colon is generally achy from the laxative, but I do feel better.

For those of you who have taken it, how long did you need to take it to get things back in working order (I've been given a 30 day supply, but I was told to call back in a week...)? And what did your doctor do for you after you finished taking Miralax (in other words, what was your next step)?

I have been on Miralax for alittle over a year now. I also take Zelnorm, and Metimucil. I have read that Miralax should be used short term. But the doctor wants me to keep taking it. It has worked ok for me. The doctor still wants me to take it along with the Zelnorm & Metimucil. It has done nothing for my pain.
