can you help?...here are my symptoms.. - Bowel Disorders Message Board

Well about 2 months ago, I got what my doctor said was a bladder infection. (Blood in urine, burning, Frequency) About the same time I started having Bowel problems...no BM for 5-6 days, pain, bleeding. So then I went in for that and was told that I had internal hemmeroids. So for the bladder infection I was put on antibiotics. No change. Well I am currently on my 4th round of antibiotics and my doctor informed me that I need to see a specialist because she thinks I may have "Fistula". It really does make sense to me because I have never had any bladder/bowel problems until 2 months ago. And both problems came at the same time. I have been doing research on fistula and I do see similiar symptoms to what I have. If anyone has any advice on this, please let me know!! Thanks in advance!!

Did you by any chance have a C-section? I had a UTI in January and ever since then I've had chronic pain in my lower abdomen, on the left. I'm waiting for my new insurance to start so I can have laparoscopy surgery to see if I have adhesions or endometriosis (or who knows what else?). My bowels seem to be normal, but anything moving through causes me pain.

Sorry I don't have advice, but I have sympathy for you, and I hope you can get the fistula fixed soon...I guess you'll have to have surgery too?

Yes I did have a c-section with my Twin Girls 19 months ago.

Scars from surgery continue to grow sometimes. My doctor said my C-section could be my problem, even though I had my baby 16 years ago. When the surgical scar is in your abdomen, it can cause adhesions linking two areas together (fistula). When they are linked with the bowel or the bladder, you can have problems in those areas like you are having. It may need to be surgically corrected, but they can do it with a laparoscope, so it's not too invasive.
