I was in denial that there was truly something wrong with me. I was devestated to find out what I had and what I would have to endure for the rest of my life. When first diagnosed I was prescribed prednisone, salofalk and pentasa enemas...I felt better soon after because of the prednisone, however I had no idea what the medication would end up doing to me in the long run. I was on prednisone for so long that eventually, my hair started falling out in clumps, i grew darker hair all over my body and my face was very puffy and I gained a bit of weight and my hands shook violently, which really did a number to myslef esteem. I finally was able to wean myself off prednisone and have been in remission for about a year, until these past coiple of weeks. I am having another flare up which really worries me and disappoints me as well. I tried so hard to get healthy so that I could become pregnant, and now its like I have to start back at square one. I called my doc and told him of my flare up which entails, frequent bms, very loose, bloody and mecusy. I have severe abdominal pains and have a hard time eating anything. I told the doc that i refuse to take prednisone again because of what i had gone through before, so he prescribed betnesol enemas and increased my dose of salofalozine. He informed me that if this doesnt imporve things within a week, that I basically have no choice but to start prednisone again....id rather jump off a bridge!! there has to be something else!!! thinking about starting prednisone gets me so choked up and depressed! i am thankful for the year i was healthy but now its like i forget what healthy even feels like. I am at a loss cause I am still rather new to this disease, I need some help, is there anything fast acting and long lasting that i can suggest to my doc, cause he doesnt seem to want to budge on this prednisone thing.
