I just wanted to thank every one here for your support advice and information. I had my colonoscopy today. No polyps, no cancer. I have a pretty good infection and it had aggravated my diverticulosis. I have been sick for over six weeks without really knowing what was going on. I have a strong family history of colon cancer and since the Internet told me that according to my symptoms that is what I had

I was freaked out.
This was made worse by the fact that because of my family history my GP wanted me to get scoped 2 years ago. The thought that I might have something that I could have prevented but, for the fact that I procrastinated so long, was very hard to think about.
So I have a little advice for what it is worth. Boards like this are a great place to get moral support and health information. It is also fine to inquire as to what symptoms might mean but, If you are having symptoms that are worriesome enough to post on a message board you really need to be talking to your doctor. Self diagnosis is a risky and foolhearty endevore. This isn't meant for people who are already under a physicians care but I read a lot of posts here where people have been bleeding from the anus for over a year and still haven't consulted a doctor. They are obviously concerned since they post here but if you have symtoms you need to be talking to a doctor, period! Then post.
Anyway thanks everyone.
P.S. Flat stools do not mean it is cancer
