| Re: Twisted Bowel
Hi Susie
I have had a twisted bowel on several occassions and have just been diagnosed with crohn's disease.
The first time my bowel twisted i was in alot of pain and was in hospital for nine days. They didnt operate as sometimes it can correct itself, which fortunately mine did.
I know now when my bowel twists as i recognise the pain and my abdomen is distended when it happens. I only go for emergency help when i start to vomit as it can be a sign of other problems which may mean it wont correct itself.
THere can be complications to a twisted bowel.......if it strangulates then surgery is required as the bowel can die and cause life threatening problems.
Sometimes when a doctor says twisted, it doesnt always mean devastation for the person, as the bowel could be looped but yet very slack which means everything is still passing through moderately ok.
Is she having any further tests?
