My entire life I have been pretty normal when it comes to BM's. I am now 40 almost 41....but around age 37 I noticed that I was having occasional constipation. It would last longer than I was used to (well I wasn't used to any constipation issues). So I blamed it on my diet, too much soda, not enough water and began taking Metamucil. Once things started to flow, I would forget to take the Metamucil and go on with my life, only then to be plagued again with constipation.
3 years have gone by....and now I am noticing changes in my monthly periods as well and the constipation issues have gotten worse. I really have to watch my diet, drink tons of water, take fiber and it's still doesn't come out the way I would like it to look per se. I have had a colonoscopy just this March, and it was normal. I have been to my GYN to have them check my blood, hormones, uterine biopsy and tomorrow an ultrasound, but I feel in my mind that it's pre-menopause and age doing this to me even though my hormonal tests were normal. I feel like my body is changing. I used to have a regualr 5 day period, now it's gone down to 3 days, sometimes only 2 days. I am emotional big time, I cry over stupid things like American Idol, So YOu Think You Can Dance shows, ha ha ha!! I just think I'm out of whack somehow, but I don't know what to do to bring back my ebb and flow. I recently went back on birth control pills and was hoping that would get my hormones in check, but the constipation or itty bitty stools continue.
So my question is: do the women on this board who are late 30's, early to mid/late 40's believe that constipation has anything to do with peri-meno or meno???
Thoughts?
