Question about red blood in stools - Bowel Disorders Message Board

Today after I went to the bathroom I had some bright red blood on the tissue. I couldnt look at the stool becasue it sank. What could casue this red blood on my tissue? I'm 22 so could I still have hemoroids? About 2 days ago I had fine brown color floating stools with no blood on the tissue.

Hi...it could be a fissure (cut in the anal folds), or hemorrhoids...but more than likely a fissure.

Was the blood mixed in with the stool or was it on the last wipe?

You should, however...make sure there's no blood along the stool or in the water.

You could take a look-see by squatting over a hand mirror on the floor to see if there are any cuts and if so....it's a fissure.

Hydrocortisone cream will help heal them....

If the bleeding continues, please make sure you see your doctor and get it checked out.

Sounds more like hemorrhoids.

I went to the bathroom again yesterday and it burned like hell. I didnt see any blood on the stool or on the toliet paper. But it burned like hell. I'm still worried it could be colon cancer. My doc has found blood in my stool before awhile back, but this is the first time I've ever seen it on the toliet paper like that

When I went to the bathroom today it didnt burn, but some of my stool was black colored I think. It was normal color with black on it. Could hemrhoids cause stool to be black?

I noticed the same thing in my stools about 5 months ago... and now I don't notice them anymore. Needless to say I booked an appt. with the doctor and have an exam scheduled for late August (GED exam). I'll post my results here or in the Colon Cancer forum.
