It's funny, my father said the same thing about having his done when he was 20-ish, about 50 years ago. He said ... "The doc made a cut, pulled the vein out and snipped it off." Which in reality is somewhat the same thing I had done with my thrombosed hemmorhoid.
I dunno, maybe they had a high fiber diet back then that made things a lot better than now.
I'm almost 10 weeks post-op and if I'm not watching my fiber intake I can can have a pretty painfull bowel movement (bm). Right now I'm averaging one hard BM for every 3 softies. I guess my body just isn't fiber-friendly.
I'm not one for giving semi-medical advice here, but if you take 3 tablespoons of Metamusil per day with $hitloads of water, things get a lot better.
Oh, and think back on things that gave you problems before the surgery, for me it was drinking too much Iced Tea at lunch.
So after the surgery I drink a boatload of Iced Tea and lunch and then enjoy the nice soft explosion around 2pm.
Connecting the dots at this stage in the game is a bit hard, especially for a first-timer like me.
But I swear, tons of water and get your daily dose of fiber. (Dont go overboard on fiber as it can block you up too.)
Hang in there,
