No BM Following Colonoscopy?

I had a colonoscopy last Thursday and haven't had a bowel movement since. After the prep, I thought I'd be going for days without stop. Does anyone know if this is normal?

Re: No BM Following Colonoscopy?

So if you're saying you had your colonoscopy 2 days ago, I'd say that's pretty normal. Depends on how much you're eating and what you're eating. Try to increase your fiber intake and you should be fine. Have a salad, some prunes, apples and drink plenty of water as the prep tends to dehydrate.

Re: No BM Following Colonoscopy?

When I had mine it took several days to go. The prep for the colonoscopy should have worked the night before only, then you had the test, the laxative doesn't continue to work more than once. Plus if your test was like mine they pressure washed the colon, bowel, etc., until nothing was left in there so that's why it takes a few days for your bowels to get started again. Don't worry.

Re: No BM Following Colonoscopy?

I had two polyps removed and have to be on a low-fiber diet for two weeks. That's what's making the situation worse. I'm not able to eat the things I normally would in order to keep "regular". So far it's been three days with nothing. I'll call the doctor's office tomorrow to see if I can take a mild laxative like milk of magnesia.

Thanks for replies.
