bowel movment had bright red blood - Bowel Disorders Message Board

well all day today iv been having a long bowel movment, the last one i had lasted just a min, very short, but it was passing gas too, so when it came out it felt like ripping, i heard pops and it hurt a bit, the small stool, very small, was in a bit of mucus and had red blood, and when i wiped myself it had slime and blood, anus still kinda sore, but after about 20 seconds i wiped again and no blood. Im wondering if this could be a small fisure i can find or what have you. im only 24 so i dont think its anything serious but you never know. I also have been taking tylenol for a week and a half for my TMJ jaw bone pain. any responses would be nice

Hello Yugokid,

I experienced the same type of symtoms that continued for a few days....Went to the doctor and they drew blood to figure out if there was inflammation within my body. The labs concluded that there was and so after a series of questions from the gastrointerologist, he decided to do a colonoscopy to look further into the situation. I indeed had colitis, which affected my colon. I was put on Asacol after first trying cortosteriod supossitories. The asacol seems to help with this illness and its symtoms.

If I were you I would seek out medical attention through a gastrointerolist.

ahh i might do so, but i have had mucus in my stool for years, and my diet has been rather poor, but i was feeling kinda ill around my stomach so i went to the bathroom a few times, and that one was a little rougher than the others, the last one i had was normal, no blood.
