Hi sharon,
I had a thought and I'm not sure if this blood test is availiable where you live. here in the USA there is a blood test done by Prometheus Laboratories . It has a 92% success rate In diagnosing Crohns and Colitis. Its a simple blood test which can determine if you have Crohns or Colitis. this test is fairly new. It also once you are on meds Such as Imuran test your blood and can determine if the med is helping and if the dosage is correct for you.
You could ask your doctor if the blood test is avaible there. if not Prometheus Laboratories will send the test kit and you can ship it to them here in the USA and they will test and ship the results back to your doctor. This would be a great way to find out whats going on with your son.

Can i actually buy the kit myself or does it have to go through the doctor? I understand the dotcotr will have to carry out the test, but i am wondering can i buy it or does it has be purchsed by a medical practitioner?

I will check with his doctor and see what he says.

I do believe you can oder the test kit yourself. A lab would have to draw the blood and ship it for you. They have a web site run a search to check the info.
