Dead / Inactive Colon

I had several colonoscopys over the course of a few years. It was finally determined by my DR that I had what he explained as a "Dead / Inactive" Colon- being that normal contractions / movements that a colon should make to help push waste out to exit your body is not happening. In fact he advsied I had no movement what so ever. He had 2 solutions. One being a colostomy, and two being control it with diet and excercise. I chose diet and excercise. Well, I was talking to a freind who is having colon trouble and was explaining to her what my DR advised me of, however, I cannot remember the medical term of it. Ive since called my DRs nurse and left a voice mail for her to call me back in hopes that she can help me with the name. Ive also searched everywhere I could think of on the internet, and cannot seem to find anything on what the medical name might be.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Mary

Re: Dead / Inactive Colon

I think it's called colon inertia when it doesn't function but I don't know if that is the actual medical name.
