Oddie, any bleeding needs to be checked on! I realize not everybody is fond of Doctor's visits but for your piece of mind and his, he needs to go and get checked out. Could be just a 'roid or something very simple. A colonoscopy can find and remove polyps before they turn ugly! I'm sure some other posters will check in here and basically say the same things I am saying - so listen to the 'voices of experience' and get him going!!
[Hi Oddie, It is really hard to get husbands to the doctor. I know mine has to be laid out and cann't move before he will go.
I am having the same symptoms. Mine started last week and I thought they would go away. But today, I was scared to death when the blood poured out. I also do not have blood on my underwear, only when I have or try to have a BM. I have always had BM problems, not regular, and horrible painful bloating more lately and severe indigestion. I have always had indigestion, but not as bad as the last few weeks. I have been using laxative teas almost daily to help w/constipation, because if I don't, then I won't have a BM for weeks. So I don't know if the teas are causing the bleeding. I will be seeing a doctor tomorrow, tried today but they were full. I am scared to death, too of what the end result will be. There is no history in my family of colon cancer, but my father did have to have hemmroid surgery a couple of years ago.
I will write back tomorrow to tell you what they said and what exams I have to go thru. I am active duty, so it always takes alot of steps before we are allowed to see a specialist.

You do not ignore this type of bleeding. Immediate treatment is the only thing to do. My sister had heavy bleeding while having a BM late one night and immediately went to the ER. Two days later she had surgery for colon cancer. She'd had no symptoms before the bloody BM. They don't call it the "silent killer" for nothing. Her surgery, thank God, was a total success. The docs told her colon cancer is almost always curable IF you act quickly and have annual colonoscopies. To delay or ignore obvious symptoms is so, so dangerous. Get your hubby to the doctor. I could be nothing, but it's not worth the risk to do nothing.
I agree with thinkoutloud , Get him to the doctors like I have sad already I lost my dear dad to bowel cancer, he was to scared to go to the doctors. by the time he went it was to late, he was 61 years old!!
It may be nothing to serious, but he should go and see!!
or has he been already, I do hope so...take care ...Mandy
i had the full colonoscopy done. don't remember any of it. He found a polop and an internal hemeroid. I have not gotten the test results back yet....he and the assistant stressed that they had a very hard time passing the scope. He didn't scold, but seemed like it was my fault because it appeared that I used laxitives. I do not, but I did use the herbal teas daily. I am trying to stick with fibers, but it is not working. Now I still go days before having a BM.
The doctor did not seem concerned almost seemed ******. Not a good bedside manner.
