very dark blood in stool
I had a BM earlier today, and afterward my butt had blood on it. It was bright red, so I chalked it up to a fissure, as I've been having a problem with them for a while now. But this evening I had a BM that had stringy clumps of very dark red (almost purple) blood. This is gross, but I emptied a glass q-tip holder and collected the substance and will be calling my GI in the morning to see if we can get it tested or something.
I wonder if the blood was coagulating in my rectum from earlier, or if there's something else happening. I had a colonoscopy in Sept that revealed procitits but nothing else, and a couple weeks ago I had a small intestine series and the doctor at the imaging center said he doesn't think I have Crohns.
My rectal surgeon suspected the fissures were due to Crohns. He has me on Flagyl 3x per day, and it really has helped. But now it doesn't look like its Crohns.
Has anybody else seen anything like this?
