Pain after colonoscopy

I have mine colonoscopy done on monday 15/01. It was clear and all normal. No biopsy and no polyp. I'm waiting and waiting, today is Saturday and my lower abdomen still in pain. I got no lower abdomen pain before the colonoscopy! Why I'm so stupid and listen to the Dr "Done it"? And received that plain torture! How long do I need to wait for the colonoscopy pain go away? Is that one week still too early? Or could be other type of pain (women organ) ?

Re: Pain after colonoscopy

You should call the doctor and tell them about your pain. Maybe taking some ibuprofen or tylenol would help in the meantime. But call your doctor!

Re: Pain after colonoscopy

I called the doctor on Friday 19/01. The lady said she wasn't in. She'll call me on Monday 22/01. Day has passed. She didn't call......... May be it is the legal way that the doc can punish/torture her patient! I think I behaved and very good girl, why?

Re: Pain after colonoscopy

I have had about 10 colonoscopies and never was uncomfortable except for a few hours after.

I have never had real bad pain following a colonoscopy!

Think I would be placing a call to the Doctor who performed the scopes and asking why and what!!

Re: Pain after colonoscopy

It could be a tear inside the colon lining---I know of a lady that had that happen and it was a traumatizing experience for her to say the least. You need to get this checked out ASAP.

Re: Pain after colonoscopy

Dr asked her receiptionist called and said is like that. She blew air in the bowel. If it was a tear, would it heal by itself or not? How long would it take to heal? I didn't see any blood in my stool. If it was a tear, the stool should appear some blood. Is that right?

Re: Pain after colonoscopy

You would be pretty sick if there was a tear or perforation as it is called. The reason is that the stool would be leaking out into your abdominal cavity and a massive infection would occur.

I had never had any pain after a colonoscopy. You might want to remind your doctor how long ago it was.

Re: Pain after colonoscopy

I didn't have fever. It is a mild constant pain. Didn't expect it would have pain after the colonoscopy. Only one and a half week after the colonoscopy. I've called her already so... the receiptionist said, "is like that". If she told me before the colonoscopy, I would have experience pain after that.... I won't go ahead!

Re: Pain after colonoscopy

what does the receptionist mean, "is like that"? And why is the receptionist passing on the medical information to you? That is totally unacceptable in the medical offices I have been in---ESPECIALLY for such a serious concern such as yours.

Re: Pain after colonoscopy

"is like that" I suppose she meant everyone have it after that. I didn't know why the Dr don't want to talk to me? Isn't it all the Dr won't return calls?

Last time a cardio said he'll call me after the test. After 2 weeks, he didn't call so I just went to his office and pick up my scan report and go home read by myself. This time he said he'll write to me but he is on holiday for 2 weeks. Now the gastro dr, I won't expect a dr will call or write!
