STARR procedure
I underwent a total colectomy, anterior rectal resection, colo-rectal mucosal prolapse banding in August 2005 however symptoms of Obstructive Defaecation syndrome never completely improved and now have become worse. I have been diagnosise with a small rectocele however my doctor feeds it is not significant enough to produce the severe symptoms I have. I have undergone surgery since then for severe small bowel obstruction for adhesions and have had 3 small bowel obstructions within 4 months. Am now possibly going to undergo a STARR procedure. Would like to know if this would be beneficial and whether due to previous rectal surgery whether the risk for complications post surgery is greater?
