About 2 months ago for about 2 days, I had what was thought a virus with chills, a fever, a brief case of diharrea. For about a week after, I had loose stools with back pain, then constipation. I have had an abdnominal and renal ultrasound which thankfully were all negative. I had problems with fibroids which were thought to cause the constipation and back pain, but I have since had surgery to remove them. However, the right side pain still comes and goes and I am trying to track it to see if it occurs anytime or only after bowel movements. I have had mucous in my stool and recently noticed tiny specks of bright red blood in the stool as well. I can tell there is hemmoroidal/anal irritation from straining or sitting too long but there is no rectal bleeding. There is no history of colon issues, so I am not sure where to begin. Can this be a spastic colon or diverticulosis? I am 40 but I have heard of this in younger people. Should I go straight to a colon specialist or start with a GI doctor? I know it's a book, but please help!
