Hey all, this is my first time posting here, and i must admit, i seem a little trivial with all these complex procedural questions, but i'm worried nonetheless.
first off, I'm 17 years old, slight build, weigh about 120 lbs, height around 5'8".
recently, i've noticed some slight streaking blood on the toilet paper after a bowel movement. that's all there is, no other bleeding or blood in the bowl, just a little on the toilet paper. also, this is a little inconsistent, it sometimes goes away, and sometimes is there.
prior to these last 2 or 3 weeks, this hadn't happened at all ever before, so i'm a little worried.
i'm thinking it could be what i'm eating, i'm at summer camp so my diet has changed from what it normally is. i usually eat quite a lot of meat, but with a nice balance of vegetable fiber in there as well. it seems to me that i'm not eating enough fiber, but since i've noticed this problem, i've been trying to eat more vegetables, usually broccoli or some sort of salad at every meal. despite this, though, the blood still persists.
i'm a little worried about this.
any suggestions at all would be really helpful, thanks in advance everyone!
Hey, I'm 17 as well. I had the same thing a couple of months ago, don't know what caused it, but it was pretty consistent for a few weeks. Nothing happened haha, so I'd say don't worry about it. If there are bucket loads of blood, then you need to worry, but for now, don't worry about it.
Hi...food won't cause bleeding. It could also be a fissure..which is a cut in the anal folds (either internally or externally). If you're somewhat constipated or a bit stressed, it will break open during a bm or even from wiping.
Try to increase your fluid intake. It's great you're having veggies. Maybe add more fruit as well.
Keep an eye on it, and if it's worse, get it checked out by a doctor when you get back from camp.
The other thing is you can now purchase some Anusol suppositories and that may help.
It's all a matter of perspective!
