| HELP...Malone Procedure, MACE, ACE info needed
We are looking for folks that have had the Malone Procedure done. It has also been referred to as MACE (Malone Anegrade Continence Enema) and ACE.
Our youngest son will be 17 in a couple of weeks. He is DX with Autism, CP, Epilepsy, MR and ADHD. We have been battling low bowel movements for 3 years. We have tried different medicines and doses. He was back up into the small intestine and was admitted to the hospital to have an NG tube placed and clean him out with golightly (Not spelled right) 33 days later he is already backed up into the beginning of the large intestine.
The Peds Gastro doc we are working with has stated that with our sons history chances are slim for medicine intervent to work at time point. He states that he believes our son wil have to be hospitalized several times a year for the NG cleanout. This was a horrid experience for our son! The ooption he offers is the Malone Procedure.
The doc did give us some print outs on it. But I would really like to hear form parents who have gone this route with their child
