Hello from Easta!
I have just found this board and hope someone can help me! I have had some bowel problems for 20 years or so now but they have come and gone. Chiefly the symptoms are these: A feeling of bruising or pressure right at the anal opening, softish stools (I have been veggie for 19 years), sometimes having a movement morning and afternoon (and plenty to come too!) and abdominal distension and explosive wind! There is occasional mild cramping or darts of discomfort in the abdominal area but these are of a minor nature.
I have been treated for piles on occasions but had no further investigations other than an ovarian scan and CA125 tests. The first test was slightly elevated but the second was normal. Both these tests were carried out last November. I have felt fine all this year until about 7 weeks ago when the flatulence started up again. I left it for a couple of weeks to see if it settled down but it did not and the feeling of pressure right at the rectal opening returned. (Hadn't had that for about 17 years!!) Doctor has referred me for a sigmoidoscopy on 21 Sept and I am awaiting the result of blood tests taken last week.
I feel fine apart from this and have had no surgery except hysterectomy in 1992 (aged 36) for fibroids.
I have read a little about IBS but as I don't actually have diarrhoea or constipation am wondering if that means this cannot be the explanation.
Obviously I am feeling a bit vulnerable and worried that there may be cancer but would like to hear from listers of their experiences and whether those experiences are similar to mine.
Thank you all very much.
