Help/Advice?

Hey,I am a twenty year old male who has recently had a burst of symptoms, and was wondering if anybody could offer advice/ suggestions to improve things?

Basically, around 2 months ago, I started to get abdominal pains - these started soon after a trip to London. A week later, I passed stools 8 times in one day, although this was not diarrhea. The pains then continued, with me eventually maintaining my usual once a day routine; except the pain remained. Then, I had a a bout of diarrhea [not chronic, just one movement]. The next two weeks were the same: regular routine, pain with bloating and very loud noises from my stomach- sometimes in morning b4 food, and always bad at the nightime. Then another bout of diarrhea- not chronic, just one movement. The pains remained, but a regular routine followed. The bloating got worse, as did the noises which can echo across a room. The symptoms degenerated into further noises, with tension in my lower anal region indicating a need to pass stools although I did not need to. My food intake has remained the same in this period, as has my bowel routine - just constant pain in the lower right abdomen, with severe bloating. Sporadically, there is a single diarrhea movement. I have noticed more food in stools, also. As I am 6 foot 3 inches, I am disturbed to have seen my weight drop to 9st (from 10,2). The doctor gave me buscopan, tho these have little affect- noise, pain and bloating remains. I am awaiting test results [blood and stool] but with the doctors not contacting me, I presume these are normal. Sometimes I notice black speckles on stools, but this is not consistent enough to be a symptom. These all occured 2 months after a stressful year- but at a time when I was relaxing a great deal.

It does not matter what foods I eat - the symptoms remain. I am at a loss, and fear my final year at uni will be ruined. Any suggestions/help? Is this just IBS?

Re: Help/Advice?

Have you tried staying off all types of wheat and all white flour because these lead to pains. If you can rule out this until your results it just might be the cause. I have ibs and it is now under control because i watch my diet. Medication helps but your diet is the most important thing. Its trial and error.

Re: Help/Advice?

hi there lee, this is how my symptoms started out years ago and have gradually got worse, not saying that you will just please keep on at your doctors, demand they refer you to a specialist for further investigations. in the mean time like the other reply try cutting things from your diet dairy wheat etc the hospital asked me to do this but it made no difference. remain positive though but keep on at your doc until your satisfied. good luck hope it all works out for you louise
