My grandson is 6 years old and has recently come to live with me. He has had this problem for a some time and I am not sure what the problem is. His mom has been very vague about what has been done.

My grandson often has bowel movements that he is unaware is happening. He doesn' feel the urge to go to the bathroom and he cannot smell it - his sinues are very bad and he doesn't smell anything, ( He is on medication for his allergies.) I am constantly wiping him and changing him.

The Local doctors, according to my daughter, say it is a condition he will overcome in a few years, that time has come and gone.

Any suggestions on what the cause could be, what tests can be done, anything?
