Anal Fistula - What worked for me - No surgery

I had a anal fistula in 2002 and was treated by the kshar sutra method.
It got cured and no problems until 2007 when it happened again. I went to the doctor and then he recommended me another surgery. The surgery as painful it is, was something i wanted to avoid.

I did the following. There is a betadine solution(which is nothing but antiseptic) that is available over the counter in walgreens etc. I used it and inserted the solution in my anus(3-4 drops at a time). I did it twice a day after defaceation. I did this for two months and my painful fistula is gone. I suffered for about 8 months(when it drained every week one day) before I decided to use this technique and it has worked for me.

This method was much easier than my first surgery.

Downs- After you insert 3-4 drops in your anus, you might feel like going to the toilet for excretion. So just lie on your stomach for about 20 minutes to prevent that urge to excrete.

Where did you go to receive the kshar sutra treatments? I cannot locate any US-based facilities that do this treatment. And why did you try betadine drops? How are kshar sutra and betadine connected?

I did not do the kshar sutra treatment in US........I did it in India where Ayurveda originated...............There is no linkage between kshar sutra and betadine..........I just told about kshar sutra because I had a prior treatment in 2002.......betadine is one of the best antiseptic available and hence I used it.....

Hi Thomas26,

Can you please explain as to how you were able to insert betadine solution
into your anal track.

Thanks
Tom27
