Don't get an urge to go, constipation, gas
Almost every weekday for about a month, I've been getting stomach discomfort toward the end of the day. It's a distended / constipated feeling mixed with gas pains. And, yes, I've also been pretty constipated. I do go to the bathroom mostly everyday, but it hasn't been "in-and-out" like I'm used to. Going to the bathroom has been more strained or forced and also less regular.
All of this has happened in conjunction with a new job I took on, and I know it is at least partly due to "holding in" either gas or BMs or both. I put "holding in" in quotes because I never actually feel an urge to go -- I just get just this discomfort. I remember experiencing the same discomfort towards the end of the day in high school, the difference being that in high school I had a rigid BM schedule: upon entering my house I'd immediately get an urge to go to the bathroom and I'd go instantly.
The background story is that AFTER high school and through a good part of my college experience, I became the typical anxiety sufferer and was diagnosed with IBS. In recent years, things have been A LOT better for me (luckily) and my diet isn't limited like it used to be. I also don't experience random nauesa as frequently. This new problem, however, has been going on for about a month now and I really want to be pro-active about it. I am not letting this turn into a pattern. I've been eating all the foods that are supposed to help you go -- fruits, vegetables, salad, raisin bran, even fiber supplements -- but no net change. My next move is going to be more regular exercise and more sleep. But I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem with not getting urges at work/school and just getting this discomfort instead?
Any response is greatly appreciated.
