Chronic diarreah for 4 months and counting

greetings, all.

Four months ago I thought I had food poisoning, but my diarreah after eating, nausea and abdominal/back pain has persisted. I continue to lose weight (35 pounds during this time). Also, multiple lymph nodes are showing up in axillary, breasts, neck, groin, legs and abdomen. One was biopsied and found benign - but more keep appearing.

I've had every test under the sun and multiple doctors are unsure what the cause could be. any ideas? i am in the process of gaining an appointment at the Mayo clinic. Constant fatigue and pain in my mid back, low abdomen interfere with my normal activities.

Lap. surgery recently uncovered adhesions from my appendix scar connected to my sigmoid colon. they were removed, yet two weeks later there are no changes in my bowels/ability to eat. is it possible the colonoscopy couldn't get all the way around the adhesions to reveal the culprit?

Any ideas or opinions on the topic would be appreciated. New to the site and thankful in advance for any help you could give.

in peace,
lisalou

Re: Chronic diarreah for 4 months and counting

Hi,

That sounds a lot like what happened to me. I thought I ate something bad and got sick. For 7 months I had diarrhea and stomachaches. The doctor gave me Cipro, Flagyl, and did some tests - all negative. Finally after dropping about ten pounds and having to get up in the middle of every night to go to the bathroom, she did a colonoscopy and took a few biopsies confirming that it was ulcerative colitis.

There is a blood test for Celiac Disease. You might ask your doctor to check that out. Weight loss and diarreah are common symptoms. I haven't heard that enlarged lymph nodes are a symptom, but it wouldn't hurt to consider looking in to Celiac Disease.
