I'm 33 and have had hemorrhoids for some time now. I have had small dots of blood on the toilet paper and on one side of the stool. It's bright red, very fresh looking. However, friday, I wasn't constipated or straining and was surprised to see blood in the toilet.
I got scared and went to an internal medicine/oncologist who did a flexible sigmoidoscopy. He said I had a large internal hemorrhoid that I would eventually need surgery on, he said everything else looked clean and that he didn't see any evidence of blood coming from higher up. He referred me to a gastro that I'm seeing next week for other issues.
I didn't have blood saturday-monday and today there was blood again both times I went.
I'm terrified. Can hemorrhoids cause bleeding each time and not even with a hard bowel movement. I'm beside myself with fear!!
