Re: itchy anus

Sorry to drag back an old thread.
It's me again.
Still itchy...
the only thing I've found that helps for sure is boxers. This makes the itch bearable. With briefs the itch would be excruciating.

Just got over 3 weeks of using Proctosedyl ointment (hemmorhoid cream) 2X a day. Didn't help at all. Actually i think it made it worse.

What's the next step for me? I had 2 more stool tests, both negative. At least I'm assuming their negative, since the damn hospital never gave called me back with the results.

So combantrin didn't help for long...should I try Vanquin? Vermox?

Slather tea tree oil on myself? start eating black walnut extract?

Should I see a homeopath? Seems to me that my family doctor has no idea what's wrong. I asked him to prescribe me Vermox, to try at least, but he stubbornly told me that unless he has absolute proof that it's worms, he's not going to prescribe anything. Please help? There's got to be something to beat the itch. Having this for the rest of my life depresses me.

Re: itchy anus update

Hi sorry to hear you still have a problem.I feel you can rule out worms, because combantrin will work, if you did have worms.
Did your doctor examine your rectum and take some swabs, for a pathology test.It sounds like it might be an allergy,i wonder if an antihistamine tablet would ease the symptons.Perhaps you should see another doctor, for another opinion.I hope you soon get some relief.Best wishes from bess01.

HI Lampskin! Could it possibly be yeast on top of hemorrhoids? I've had that before and used two differnt creams and felt so much better. Believe me, I know what you're going through and it's maddening. Let us know how you make out. God bless--Hopeto--

Re: itchy anus update

i don't think it's yeast. I tried canesten for 2x daily for 2 weeks. No help there.

I really do think that it may be worms.

Sometimes, I can see little white threads moving at the end of my finger after i scratch. At least...i think i can...i don't know. It might be just lint, but I don't know.

I had a full flexible sigmoidoscopy. Not only was that the opposite of fun, it also didn't turn up anything useful.

Antihistamines? I took 2X daily for 2 weeks with no effect, other than making me sleepy.

Thank you so much for your help though...i really appreciate it.

Re: itchy anus update

Mate,

It is probably is worms ok. And they're tricky ba$tards. It aint as simple as taking a chocolate block combantrin most of the time. Do some reading to find a parasite specialist and get talking to one, it's quite fascinating underneath it all. You're going to get over it, it's just hard to see it right now with all of your failed attempts. No fears, keep your focus and persistence.

Re: itchy anus update

The next thing i think i want to try is wormwood, black walnut, and cloves

Apparently this really helps get rid of worms.

I should really talk to a homeopath. This whole experience is making me lose faith in modern medicine.

I mean, we can invent the Internet and jets that travel faster than the speed of sound. We can implant an artificial heart in a human being. Why can't we get rid of a damn itchy ***?

Re: itchy anus update

Hi there. Any news on a cure, slash, solution to the problem. I realize this is quite an old topic, but I feel it's important enough to dig up as I have the same or at least a similar itchy problem.

It started about a few months ago for me. I had wiped quite thoroughly and hard that morning (I have trouble getting clean) and it just burned the whole day. it felt like acid eating away down there. I'd been through similar moments in the past, though not so severe, and it's always disappeared after a while. Especially after a bout of diarrhea.

Not so this time. I washed myself down there and it went away until another bowl movement. Now, all it takes, especially if I am not clean as a whistle, is sitting down or walking. It just itches and itches. Then it burns and itches. I don't know what to do.

Both the GPs I went to just stuck their finger up my butt and gave me worm medicine and a bunch of different creams. Where do I take it from here? Shouldn't there be tests or something...a process of elimination. I'm not made of money, so I can't afford to go to GP after GP.

For me it's gotten to a point where I am seriously considering suicide as the only out. I am miserable ALL the time.

I should also mention that I suffer from perpetual heart burn and gas bloating, diarrhea and constipation and have been taking proscription ant-acids daily...which gives me chest pains and what feels like heart arrhythmia and arm tingling...yeah! lol

Another thing I have is a small cut in a “skin tag” down under. It's been there for years, always burned itch and bled, but and nothing like this. I don't know/think this is causing the problem.

A point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to be posting this on a new health board a day, health permitting, in hopes of solution.

Thanks in advance.

Re: itchy anus update

I have found that calmoseptine oitment very helpful in skin protection for healing after diareaha. I would also recommend a mental health professional to deal with you emotionally on this. They might be able to give you medicine to help you mentally deal with your situation.

It helped me. I went on Zoloft because I have a some OCD tendencies and not getting 100% better and developing new symptoms has been driving me up a wall. It's all real and not imagined but it has been hard for me to deal with.

Hope some of this sharing has helped. Hang in there.

Re: itchy anus update

Thank you for the reply. *jots down calmoseptine.*

I feel much better today. I've gone back to washing after every time I..well you know...and someone let me use something they put on their nerve rash. Also, some anti-histamine. Something is helping, though it's probably just the washing. I have cut down on the coffee and tomatoes *shrug*. I've got to try something right?

I don't think I'd handle a psych-doc well; I'd be trying to analyze him analyzing me.

Thanks again, your post did help.
