I hope someone can give me some information on their experience. I have been struggling with this problem for several months. I have a large polyp (about the size of a golf ball) that has to be taken out. It looks like colon resection will be soon. It has had several biopsies which have all come back non-cancer but the doctor says they will not know for sure until the do the surgery and do a pathology report. This kind of polyp has the potential to become cancerous as it gets larger. Has anyone else had a large polyp like this that has not been cancer???? I have been on Cipro-Flagyl for inflamation from the polyp. It seems to kill my appetite and leave me feeling washed out. I have seen many people talk about their dislike of this combination of antibiotics and I was interested to know what specific problems you may have had with it. I hope someone can give me some information about their experience.
Thanks

I personally haven't taken cipro and flagyl but my husband has recently for diverticulitis. He had a really hard time with the flagyl particularly. He would feel sick after taking it. His main problems were lack of appetite and a metal taste in his mouth, making it impossible to eat because everything tasted horrible. He had recieved the drugs IV while hospitalized for two days and then orally for another 10 days. It took at least 2 weeks after being done with flagyl for him to be able to taste food again and to feel like eating. I know he'll never take it again. There are other antibiotics out there and there is no reason to take something that makes you feel even worse!
thanks Maryanne,
That is my experience with it too, even the metal taste in the mouth. the loss of appetite is a concern for me because I don't want to loose too much weight before the surgery becaue I hear that you can drop another 10lbs in the recovery.
